Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bod Zio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Kwaak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zio comes into the arena with Old Mcdonald had a farm blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Kwaak!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zio misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kwaak misses with a body kick.
Kwaak throws a body kick that misses.
Zio lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kwaak lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Zio uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kwaak.
Kwaak looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Zio!
Kwaak is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Kwaak wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zio keeps working.
An elbow from Kwaak crashes against the mat.

Kwaak tries to score with some ground and pound. Zio controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Kwaak throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Kwaak has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kwaak wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zio keeps working.
Kwaak is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Kwaak is looking to take a break and control but Zio is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kwaak lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Zio down.
Kwaak throws an elbow but Zio slips to the side and avoids it well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kwaak is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Zio will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Kwaak postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Kwaak creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Zio sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Kwaak throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Zio works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

That's time! Zio's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Kwaak tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Zio was well out of range. Poor timing from Kwaak.
Kwaak throws a leg kick but Zio sees it coming and moves out of range.

Zio circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kwaak misses with a hook. Zio ducked under it nicely.
Kwaak pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kwaak throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Kwaak closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Zio's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kwaak looking to sit in guard and control but Zio gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Kwaak looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kwaak working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Zio doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Zio manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Zio stays in close to Kwaak's body and controls the position.
Kwaak escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Zio gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Zio wants to control from the top but Kwaak keeps moving.
Sam Kwaak has got the better of the ground game so far.
Zio connects with a couple of short punches.
Kwaak has his foot on Zio's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Zio works his way back into a safe position though.
Kwaak is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Zio is aware though and is defending well.

Kwaak is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kwaak had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Zio defends it easily.

Kwaak not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Zio wants to control from the top but Kwaak keeps moving.
Zio throws an elbow that misses. Kwaak uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Zio's guard. Nice move by Kwaak!

and Kwaak makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Kwaak avoids the body shot from Zio.
Zio lands a leg kick that knocks Kwaak off balance momentarily.
Kwaak ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Zio moves away.
Kwaak is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Zio rather than just go for the knockout.
Zio digs a good body shot into Kwaak's ribs.
Sam Kwaak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kwaak misses with a takedown attempt - Zio sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
An inside leg kick lands from Zio.
Zio tries to land a front kick but Kwaak steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Kwaak closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Let's hope that Kwaak has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Sam Kwaak opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
