PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Higa Gleesen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mirko Filipovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Illya Tyunina and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Filipovic shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Filipovic showed some decent athleticism there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Filipovic is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Gleesen's shoulder. That is not cool.
Gleesen is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Despite being in the dominant position, Mirko Filipovic just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gleesen throws a sloppy head kick and Filipovic moves out of range easily.

Filipovic shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gleesen's guard.

Gleesen pushes Filipovic off looking to stand but Filipovic dives back in and keeps control.

Gleesen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Filipovic moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Filipovic seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Let's hope that Filipovic has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Gleesen throws a hook to the side of Filipovic's head but Filipovic sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Horrible takedown by Filipovic or perhaps it was just good defense by Gleesen which made him look bad.

Filipovic postures up in Gleesen's guard and throws a big left but Gleesen blocks it.
