Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jin Sang Jung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jung has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Smith is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Jung is trying desperately to land a takedown but Smith is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Jung.

Jung rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jung is trying to pull guard but Smith has him pressed against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Jung shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smith as he avoids it easily.

Jung closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Smith throws a head kick but Jung moves out of range.
No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Smith throws a leg kick which misses Jung's front leg but catches the back leg as Jung tries to avoid it.
Smith moves out of range of the leg kick from Jung.
Jung throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Jung gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Jung tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jung somewhat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Smith is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Smith lands a nice hook to Jung's body. Jung takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Jung throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jung off to one side.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smith, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
