PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Decimus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zeke Valentino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Decimus comes to the cage accompanied by Black Sabbath - Iron Man. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zeke Valentino!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valentino fails with an attempt to clinch.
Decimus throws a head kick but Valentino moves out of range.

Decimus clinches up with Valentino and pushes him back against the cage.

Valentino breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Decimus closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Valentino controlling the position for now.

Decimus is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Decimus uses his free foot to push down on Valentino's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Valentino.
Decimus avoids the attempt from Valentino to control.

Decimus lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Decimus prevents Valentino from getting the reversal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Valentino is in all sorts of trouble here.
Decimus can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Valentino is looking to escape.

Decimus has control of Valentino's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Valentino regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Valentino looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.

Decimus prevents Valentino from getting the reversal.

Decimus jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Valentino manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Decimus tries to move to mount but Valentino blocks the move with his legs.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Decimus goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Valentino rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Decimus's guard! Nice work there by Valentino!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Decimus is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Valentino is aware though and is defending well.
Valentino wants to control from the top but Decimus keeps moving.
Decimus wants to sweep here but Valentino controlling him for the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Decimus cracks Valentino with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Decimus wants to stand but Valentino is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Marcus Decimus.

Decimus has closed the distance and engaged Valentino in a clinch.
Valentino lands an elbow inside.

Valentino manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Valentino misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Decimus lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Decimus stalling away here and it's allowed Valentino to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Valentino pulls Decimus in close to prevent any damage.
Valentino is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Decimus is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Valentino looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Valentino escapes and gets back to his feet.
Valentino stuffs the takedown.

Valentino throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Decimus prevents a body shot from Valentino.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Decimus trying to control but Valentino is working from the bottom.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

A close second round but Zeke Valentino will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


A decent looking body kick lands there for Valentino.
Valentino tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Valentino misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Decimus closes the distance and clinches up with Valentino, looking for a takedown. Decimus pushes Valentino against the cage but Valentino circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Valentino breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Decimus throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Valentino's waist but Valentino gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Decimus off to one side.
Valentino turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Decimus moves into the clinch.

Valentino manages to break the clinch.
No luck for Decimus with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Decimus. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Valentino doesn't manage to clinch there - Decimus circles away.

Valentino pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Decimus clinches.
Decimus jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Valentino walks away with a smile on his face. Decimus gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Valentino doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Decimus blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Valentino successfully pulls guard.
Valentino keeping moving, preventing Decimus from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

We're going to have a standup here because Marcus Decimus wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Decimus changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Valentino tries to avoid it but Decimus manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Valentino to the ground. Valentino escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Valentino throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Valentino tries to clinch up but Decimus circles away and keeps his distance.
Decimus takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Valentino tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Valentino stuffs the takedown attempt from Decimus. Decimus gets slowly back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Decimus stalling in the clinch but Valentino improves position.
Valentino has Decimus pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Decimus manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Valentino is struggling to control the position.
Decimus dodges an elbow strike from Valentino.
Decimus is trying to pull guard but Valentino has him pressed against the cage.

Valentino escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Valentino fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Decimus, pushing him back against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Valentino prevents the takedown attempt.
Decimus managing to block the knees to the body from Valentino.
Decimus letting Valentino take a breather here.
With the fighters up against the cage, Valentino throws an elbow but misses.

Valentino drops down looking for an ankle pick but Decimus pulls his leg out and moves away.
Decimus is trying hard to land a takedown here. Valentino sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Valentino rushes Decimus and presses him up against the cage.
Valentino gets underhooks to prevent Decimus's takedown attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Decimus wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Valentino manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Zeke Valentino comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Valentino has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
