The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lavaresh swats away the attempt to clinch by Takana.
Lothar Lavaresh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Takana counters with a single leg into guard. Lavaresh didn't expect that.

Takana drops back looking for a leg! Lavaresh is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lavaresh manages to kick Takana off! Takana jumps back into Lavaresh's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Takana tries to close the distance and clinch but Lavaresh swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Takana bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lavaresh's guard.

Takana wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lavaresh, who protects the arm well.
Takana creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lavaresh sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Takana tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Takana passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Lavaresh!
Takana is landing with some decent strikes but Lavaresh is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Takana cracks Lavaresh with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Takana is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lavaresh can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Lavaresh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Takana. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Takana cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Takana is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Lavaresh has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Lavaresh!
