The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martinez shoots in and drives through. Ferguson sprawls well.

Joshua Ferguson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nicolas Martinez.
Ferguson misses with a takedown attempt - Martinez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Martinez shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ferguson eats them both and turns towards Martinez to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Martinez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ferguson, pushing him back against the cage.

Ferguson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Martinez's guard.

Martinez is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ferguson scores with a couple of nice shots.
Martinez wants to control but Ferguson is keeping busy.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ferguson in particular looking to stall.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ferguson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Martinez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ferguson tries to move to mount but Martinez blocks the move with his legs.
Martinez is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Martinez wants to improve his position but Ferguson is controlling well.
Ferguson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Martinez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Ferguson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Ferguson has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Martinez defend it? Ferguson steps over the head and cranks it - Martinez is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Ferguson!
