Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luis Abente (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Bader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Luis Abente has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luis Abente! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Bader! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abente fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Bader looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Abente gets caught flat footed, as Bader shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Bader loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Abente wants to stand and escape but Bader is having none of it. Bader must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Abente bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bader's guard. Bader really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Abente. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Abente decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Abente throws a quick inside leg kick. Bader keeps the fight on the outside. Bader keeps the fight on the outside. Abente lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bader at a distance.
Abente misses with a jab, cross combination.
Both fighters circling a little - Abente finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. No joy there for Abente, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Abente has his takedown stuffed and Bader decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Abente's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Abente is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bader is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abente is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Abente is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bader doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Abente. Abente seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Bader tries to kick Abente off but Abente keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Abente working the head and body with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Abente passes to full mount! Abente lands with some strikes. Bader tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Bader is bucking up trying to escape but Abente cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Bader is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Abente can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bader is looking to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bader is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Abente looking to finish Bader with some ground and pound. This is bad for Bader! Bader is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bader is in a horrible position here. Abente smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Abente has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Abente working for a submission but Bader is keeping him at bay. Abente lands a heavy elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Abente dominating with strikes here. A nice elbow there by Abente. Abente jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Bader manages to avoid the submission attempt. Bader is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Abente trying to control the action but Bader is working from the bottom. Bader tries to bench press Abente off him but Abente keeps the position.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Bader lands an elbow from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Abente throws a one two combo.
Left hook, right uppercut from Abente. Bader circles away from the clinch attempt.
Abente is looking to clinch. Abente tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bader paws at him with a jab and circles away. Abente's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Abente duly obliges. Some wild striking there from Abente.
Abente doesn't manage to clinch there - Bader circles away.
Abente avoids a punch combination nicely.
Abente looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Abente fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bader.
That's six minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Abente shoots and misses and Bader counters with a single leg into guard. Abente didn't expect that. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luis Abente. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bader wants to get up but he can't break Abente's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Bader wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Abente's closed guard. He's half up but Abente has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Abente pivots and extends the arm, Bader falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Abente! Well done that man!
