And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mitsuyo Maeda!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vanguard stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Vanguard wants it to stay on the feet.

Grant Vanguard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mitsuyo Maeda.

Vanguard is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Vanguard holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Maeda tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Maeda unloads with some shots from mount but Vanguard bucks and avoids them well.
Maeda connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maeda cracks Vanguard with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
