PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Renato Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Carreri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Renato Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sean Carreri!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carreri misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Carreri is looking to clinch.
Silva throws a series of punches but Carreri avoids them all with ease.
Silva looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Carreri gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Carreri lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Silva manages to get to full guard.
Carreri really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.
Silva forces his way into half guard.

Silva is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Silva stops Carreri from getting back to his feet.

Silva wants to pass the guard but Carreri is defending well.
Carreri is looking to improve his position.

Silva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Carreri does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Silva is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carreri is just riding it out for now. Silva eventually gives up the hold.
Carreri tries to roll over but Silva keeps him under control.

Carreri has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Silva is working away from the top position though.
Silva wants to control but Carreri is keeping him busy.
Carreri is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Carreri is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Carreri is trying to stand up here but Silva is controlling him well.
Silva looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Carreri shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Silva defends it nicely.
Nice sprawl there from Carreri as Silva shoots in.
Silva throws a nice looking combination but Carreri bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Carreri wants to control but Silva is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Silva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Carreri is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carreri is trying to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carreri is looking for a sweep.
Silva wants to control but Carreri is keeping him busy.

Carreri manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Silva on his heels. He'll look to pass Silva's guard now, I'm sure.
Silva is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Silva manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carreri can do anything to dispel that myth.
Carreri is in all sorts of trouble here.
Carreri is breathing heavily.
Carreri tries to lock up and control but Silva gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Carreri is working to get back to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carreri is in all sorts of trouble here.
Silva lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Carreri hang on?
Silva lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Silva looking to control but Carreri is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Silva here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Silva can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carreri is looking to escape.
Carreri tries to reverse the position but Silva maintains control.

Renato Silva overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Silva's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Carreri is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Carreri is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Carreri is trying desperately to improve position.
Silva connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Silva avoids the attempt from Carreri to control.
Silva controlling the position easily from mount.
Carreri tries to hold on but Silva postures up.

Carreri is in a horrible position here. Silva smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Silva is working for a guillotine from mount but Carreri frees his head quite easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carreri wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Silva lands an overhand right.
Silva misses with a series of wild punches.
Carreri dodges the punch combination from Silva.

Silva has closed the distance and engaged Carreri in a clinch.

Carreri wants the takedown. Silva is fighting it off but Carreri persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Silva's guard against the cage.
Carreri looking to sit in guard and control but Silva gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Carreri throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Silva's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Carreri is trying to control the position but Silva postures up.
Carreri takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Carreri wants to control position but Silva is using a can opener to pass guard... He's turned it into a full on guillotine from mount now! Big trouble for Carreri here! He's turning a lovely shade of purple and yep! He's tapping out! I would say world class Jiu Jitsu but is it really? It was nice but let's not get silly about it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Renato Silva!
A less than humble Renato Silva misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
