Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Grace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kanbei Shimada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grace's entrance music is Swagga Like Us - TI. A fine choice. Shimada has chosen Party and Bullshit as his entrance music. Kanbei Shimada has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Chuck Grace's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chuck Grace! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kanbei Shimada! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grace tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Shimada manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Grace misses with a head kick.
Shimada misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Grace.
Grace with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Chuck Grace seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shimada circles away from the clinch attempt and Shimada connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Shimada waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Grace. Shimada swats away the attempt to clinch by Grace. Shimada keeps the fight on the outside. Grace throws a hook to the side of Shimada's head but Shimada sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Shimada throws a poor cross that misses
and Grace counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Grace wants to clinch. Grace lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shimada thuds his right hand into Grace's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. A left lands for Shimada. Shimada looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Grace ducks under a wild hook from Shimada. Grace throws a quick inside leg kick. Nice sprawl there from Grace as Shimada shoots in. Grace tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shimada swats him away and circles back towards the center. Chuck Grace is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Shimada avoids the head kick by Grace.
Grace looks to throw the jab but Shimada is out of range. Grace tries to clinch and Shimada counters with a lovely straight right hand! Grace misses with a head kick.

Grace blocks a body shot from Shimada. Shimada manages to pull guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Shimada is trying to control the position but Grace postures up. Grace wanted to stand there but Shimada had control of the position. Shimada throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shimada has his foot on Grace's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Grace works his way back into a safe position though. Grace trying to stand up but can't free himself from Shimada's guard. Grace has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Grace avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Grace would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shimada is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Grace defends well. Shimada had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Grace defends it easily. Shimada controls Grace momentarily but Grace frees himself. Grace wants to stand but Shimada is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shimada wants to sweep here but Grace controlling him for the moment. Shimada throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Grace escapes and throws Shimada's legs to the side, diving into side control! Grace tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Shimada tries to improve position but can't. Grace wants to stand but Shimada has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard. Shimada not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shimada has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Grace is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Shimada. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Grace in the domination position with Shimada hanging on. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Kanbei Shimada will probably get the nod. That's time! Grace's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Shimada misses the shot to the body. Shimada fails in his attempt to clinch. Shimada ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Grace stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Grace wants it to stay on the feet. Grace darts in trying to clinch and Grace takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Grace fails in his attempt to clinch. Grace checks a low kick from Shimada. Shimada fails with the takedown and Grace counters with a head kick. Grace closes the distance looking to clinch and Shimada moves into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grace landing some nice looking knees to the body.

It looks like Kanbei Shimada has been cut. Grace prevents a body shot from Shimada. Shimada fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Chuck Grace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kanbei Shimada. Grace misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Shimada.
Grace using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Shimada has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Shimada blocks an elbow strike. Grace misses with an elbow over the top. Grace lands an elbow inside. Nice elbow from Grace. Shimada is trying to break the clinch but Grace is controlling him. Shimada can't get the takedown.

Grace wants to stand but Shimada has a closed guard, so he can't escape. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Grace stands and steps away. Shimada gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Shimada blocks the body kick.

Grace tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nice body punch from Shimada. Shimada swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Chuck Grace is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Grace throws a nice looking combination but Shimada bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Grace throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shimada wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Grace tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Shimada manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Grace connects with a high kick. Chuck Grace is winning the standup battle so far. Shimada takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Shimada connects with a solid leg kick. Shimada drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Grace wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Shimada fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Shimada tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shimada has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Grace seems a little lost for a moment, as Shimada dominates the positioning.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shimada in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. This has been an exciting period of action! Grace pushes Shimada away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Shimada gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Shimada connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Grace some visible discomfort.
Grace wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Shimada landing a few strikes. Shimada trying to control the action but Grace is working from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shimada is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Grace knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Grace is pushing Shimada's head away, looking to escape. Shimada manages to hold on to the position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Kanbei Shimada will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Kanbei Shimada's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Shimada tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Grace was well out of range. Poor timing from Shimada. Shimada shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Grace sprawls well. Grace wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Shimada gets slowly back to his feet. Shimada swings for the body but Grace moves out of range.

Grace uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shimada.

Grace closes the distance looking to clinch and Shimada connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Grace tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shimada swats him away and circles back towards the center. Grace wants to clinch up but Shimada keeps it at a distance.
