And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rakov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rodrigo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rakov lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Jose Rodrigo has been cut.
Rakov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Rakov tries to clinch there but Rodrigo circles away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rakov.
Evgeniy Rakov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rakov shoots and misses
and Rodrigo counters with a single leg into guard. Rakov didn't expect that.
Rakov is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rodrigo is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Rakov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rodrigo is controlling him.
Rodrigo connects with a couple of short punches.

Rodrigo lands a couple of elbows.
Rakov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rodrigo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rodrigo is working Rakov over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Rakov is rocked!
Rodrigo gets to his feet and stands over Rakov, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Rakov felt that one! Rodrigo unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Rakov from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jose Rodrigo!
After winning the bout, Jose Rodrigo thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
