The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez slaps away a takedown attempt from Spat, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Spat throws a combination that misses
and Gomez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Gomez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Gomez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Spat is looking to regain half guard here but Gomez keeps moving and retains side control.
Gomez is looking to take a break and control but Spat is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Gomez decides to stand up, so the ref orders Spat to his feet.

Spat throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gomez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Spat is in Gomez's guard.

Spat wants to control from the top but Gomez keeps moving.
Spat must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gomez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Spat can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Spat is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Spat has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Gomez to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Spat is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Gomez pulls down on the head and he's put Spat to sleep! This one is all over!
