Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sergey Gribov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miyamoto Musashi! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Musashi leaves Gribov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Nice uppercut lands for Musashi. That snapped Gribov's head back.
Musashi throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Gribov fails with a takedown attempt. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Musashi!
Musashi misses with a hook. Gribov ducked under it nicely. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gribov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Musashi swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sergey Gribov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gribov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Musashi to the ground. Gribov is now in Musashi's guard. Musashi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gribov with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gribov advances to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gribov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Musashi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Gribov is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Musashi keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Musashi regains full guard. Nicely done. Musashi avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gribov trying to control but Musashi is working from the bottom. Gribov is really struggling to control Musashi but he's trying to hold on to the position. Gribov is looking to pass into half guard but Musashi pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Musashi is in guard. Musashi is looking to advance position but Gribov has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Musashi wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Gribov.
Gribov is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Musashi to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Musashi shrugs it off.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Musashi is working to get back to half guard.

A nice elbow there by Gribov. Gribov sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Musashi is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gribov controlling the position easily from mount. Musashi is looking to improve his position but Gribov isn't that keen on the idea. Gribov controlling from the full mount. Musashi wants to control but Gribov is having none of it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gribov lands a big elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Sergey Gribov will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Musashi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gribov doesn't succeed with the takedown and Musashi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Gribov clinches up against the cage. Musashi is defending well against a takedown attempt. Both guys are working to get underhooks. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Musashi. Gribov is looking to break free of the clinch but Musashi has double underhooks. A frustrated look appears on Gribov's face as he tries to break the clinch. Musashi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Musashi swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A slapping leg kick lands for Musashi.
Gribov checks a low kick from Musashi. Sergey Gribov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Gribov dives in and grabs Musashi's left leg, looking for a takedown. Musashi pushes down on Gribov's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sergey Gribov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Musashi keeps the fight on the outside.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gribov jabbing away but nothing is landing. Musashi misses with a leg kick. Musashi misses with a straight right. Gribov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Musashi as he jumps to the side. Gribov is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Musashi. Nice takedown defense from Musashi. No joy for Gribov on that attempt. Musashi cracks Gribov with a right hand to the side of the head. Gribov misses with a takedown attempt - Musashi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. A nice leg kick lands there from Musashi. Gribov misses with a combination
and Musashi counters with a right hand to the body. Musashi throws a right hand that Gribov ducks under and follows up with a left that Gribov also avoids with ease.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Musashi slaps away a takedown attempt from Gribov, before circling back to the center of the mat. Musashi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Musashi wants it to stay on the feet. Gribov takes a shot right to the bread basket. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gribov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Musashi sprawls well. Musashi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gribov gets slowly back to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Musashi fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Musashi with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Musashi lands with a nice combination. Gribov backs away looking to recover. Musashi dips to his left and cracks Gribov with an uppercut! Gribov ducks under a wild hook from Musashi. Gribov shoots in and drives through. Musashi sprawls well. Gribov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Musashi tries to avoid it but Gribov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Musashi to the ground. Musashi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gribov looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Gribov is rocked! Musashi drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Gribov right on the button. Gribov goes down! Musashi follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Musashi gets the win via TKO!
