Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Richards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Arsen Danielyan!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danielyan tries for a takedown but Richards circles away easily
and Richards counters with a head kick. That will keep Danielyan thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Richards fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Danielyan, pushing him back against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Richards creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Richards escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Richards shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Richards thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Danielyan's head.
Danielyan wants to control but Richards is keeping busy.
Richards blocks the strikes from Danielyan.

Danielyan wants to improve his position but Richards is controlling well.

A combination from Danielyan does no damage.
Richards doesn't manage to clinch there - Danielyan circles away.
Richards turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Danielyan keeps the fight on the outside.
Danielyan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Richards has managed to clinch.
Danielyan is fighting off a takedown attempt but Richards is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Danielyan to the mat. Danielyan regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Richards is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Danielyan wants to sweep but no luck.

Richards slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ben Richards.
Richards has taken the fight to the clinch.
Danielyan is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Richards is defending well.
Richards manages to break the clinch.
Danielyan tries to clinch up but Richards circles away and keeps his distance.
Richards has Danielyan up against the cage in a clinch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Richards connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Danielyan some visible discomfort.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Danielyan can do anything to dispel that myth.

Richards has hold of Danielyan's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Danielyan tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Richards cranks the arm and Danielyan screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Danielyan, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
