Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Cirus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cirus has chosen Lonely Boy - The Black Keys as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David King!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tom Cirus!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King stuffs the takedown.
King throws a right hand that Cirus ducks under and follows up with a left that Cirus also avoids with ease.
Cirus avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
No luck for Cirus with that takedown attempt.
King fails in his attempt to clinch.
King doesn't manage to clinch there - Cirus circles away.
King moves out of range as Cirus strikes.
King tries to clinch but Cirus is having none of it.
King tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Cirus paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A nice combination there by King.

and Cirus counters with a nice double leg into side control. King won't be happy with that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
King manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

King has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cirus is working away from the top position though.
Cirus lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

King on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if King tries to get out of the position.
Cirus thows a huge punch but King dodges it nicely.
Cirus working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Cirus seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cirus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cirus is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Cirus throws an elbow that misses. King uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cirus's guard. Nice move by King!

Cirus is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. King is aware though and is defending well.

Cirus escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. King gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This has been an exciting period of action!
King wants to stand but Cirus is controlling his posture from full guard.
Cirus has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Cirus had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. King defends it easily.
King won't allow Cirus to get back to his feet.

Cirus throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! King escapes and throws Cirus's legs to the side, diving into side control!

King tries to score with some ground and pound. Cirus controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

David King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cirus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says King as he avoids it easily.
David King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Cirus.

Cirus takes one to the chin there.
King tries to clinch up.

King fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cirus, pushing him back against the ropes.
King gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cirus.
Cirus blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Cirus blocks a body shot from King.
Cirus changes levels and goes for a takedown here. King fights it off and pushes away nicely.
King moves out of range as Cirus strikes.
King tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Cirus manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
King looks to land a combination but Cirus avoids it well.
David King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's six minutes gone in the round.
King tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Cirus paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cirus throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Cirus moves out of range of the strikes.
Cirus shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as King sprawls well. King wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cirus gets slowly back to his feet.

Cirus looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for King!
Check out the look on Cirus's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cirus is working to tighten is grip on King's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. King has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Cirus is really squeezing tight and eventually King passes out! Cirus breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Tom Cirus!
