Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Corey Simms (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Val Flash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Val Flash will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Corey Simms! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Val Flash! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Flash throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Simms was covering up waiting for the punch and Flash finishes the takedown easily into guard. Simms bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Flash's guard. Flash escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Simms gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Simms working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Flash wants to stand and escape but Simms is having none of it. Simms controlling from the top position. Simms thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Flash tries to strike from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round. Simms scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Simms is pushing down on Flash's leg trying to pass to half guard. Flash is fighting to maintain full guard but Simms has managed to sneak the leg through. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Simms will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Flash is looking to control Simms's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Flash avoid being mounted? Simms seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Simms seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Flash for as long as he can get away with. Simms in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Flash tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Simms!
