Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between David Bennett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Cerrone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Bennett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Cerrone!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cerrone lets loose with a powerful body kick. Bennett will feel that in the morning.

Cerrone rushes Bennett and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Cerrone tries to score a body lock takedown but Bennett shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Cerrone breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bennett tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cerrone paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cerrone shoots in looking for a takedown but Bennett manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cerrone's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Cerrone instigates a clinch.

Bennett gets control of Cerrone's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bennett will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Cerrone content to stall in guard here.
Cerrone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bennett. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bennett has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Cerrone has passed into side control.

Cerrone goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Bennett rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Cerrone's guard! Nice work there by Bennett!
Bennett wants to stand but Cerrone is controlling his posture from full guard.

Bennett postures up in Cerrone's guard and throws a big left but Cerrone blocks it.

Bennett avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bennett advances to half guard.
Bennett wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cerrone keeps working.

Cerrone wants to control but Bennett is keeping busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up because David Bennett just wasn't active enough.
Cerrone fails to land the takedown.
David Bennett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anthony Cerrone.
Bennett shoots for a takedown but Cerrone saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

The fighters circling - Cerrone throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Cerrone shoots for a double leg takedown but Bennett sprawls well. He's pushed Cerrone's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cerrone throws a wild body kick that Bennett sees coming a mile off.
Cerrone goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Bennett uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cerrone.

Cerrone gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Bennett wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Cerrone jumps into guard, dragging Bennett to the mat.
Bennett throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cerrone works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Cerrone fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bennett.
Cerrone dives in and grabs Bennett's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bennett pushes down on Cerrone's head and hops out.
Cerrone throws a right and a left that Bennett avoids nicely.

Cerrone closes the distance and clinches.
Cerrone avoids the elbow strike from Bennett, against the cage.

Bennett gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Cerrone keeping moving, preventing Bennett from controlling successfully.
Bennett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Cerrone utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Cerrone is trying to control the position but Bennett postures up.
Bennett not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because David Bennett just wasn't active enough.
Cerrone misses with a head kick.
Bennett moves in looking to clinch but Cerrone pushes him off.
Horrible takedown by Bennett or perhaps it was just good defense by Cerrone which made him look bad.
Cerrone thows a body shot but no joy.

Bennett shoots in looking for a takedown but Cerrone manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bennett's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Bennett. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bennett walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Cerrone checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Cerrone throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Bennett throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A head kick misses from Cerrone.
Bennett shoots in looking for a takedown. Cerrone tries to sprawl out of it but Bennett keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cerrone manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cerrone moves into range and clinches up with Bennett.

Cerrone manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
The crowd are getting on Cerrone's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
Cerrone swings wildly with an uppercut but Bennett uses good head movement to avoid it.

Cerrone is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Bennett can't fight it off and eventually Cerrone manages to take the fight to the floor. Bennett looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Bennett pushes Cerrone off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Bennett tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bennett misses with a double jab.

Cerrone bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Cerrone thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Anthony Cerrone showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Cerrone fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Cerrone closes the distance and clinches up with Bennett, looking for a takedown. Cerrone pushes Bennett against the cage but Bennett circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Bennett has closed the distance and engaged Cerrone in a clinch.
Cerrone tries to work over Bennett's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Cerrone lands a hook that snaps the head of Bennett backwards.

Cerrone wants to sweep but no luck.
Cerrone keeping moving, preventing Bennett from controlling successfully.
Anthony Cerrone has got the better of the ground game so far.

Bennett in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Cerrone takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bennett drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bennett jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Cerrone striking off his back but it's not causing Bennett any problems.

Cerrone escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bennett gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cerrone can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cerrone is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Bennett trying to control the position from guard on top but Cerrone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of David Bennett.
Cerrone defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bennett.
Bennett is looking to clinch but Cerrone is avoiding it.
Cerrone fails to land the takedown.
David Bennett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anthony Cerrone.

and Cerrone counters with a head kick.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cerrone is defended easily by Bennett.
Cerrone feints and then cracks Bennett's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Bennett down.
Cerrone throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bennett's waist but Bennett gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cerrone off to one side.
Cerrone throws a body kick that misses.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Bennett!
No luck for Bennett with that takedown attempt.

Cerrone fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bennett sprawls well initially but Cerrone persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Cerrone is trying to control the action in half guard but Bennett is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Anthony Cerrone comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cerrone has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
