Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lewis McLay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Redfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lewis McLay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Redfield!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Damien Edna and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McLay has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from McLay there as he acknowledges the shot.
McLay looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Redfield takes the fight into the clinch.
Redfield tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and McLay avoids it.
McLay being controlled against the cage.
McLay avoiding damage as Redfield throws knees to the body.
Redfield gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from McLay.
Redfield is trying to maintain a safe position but McLay gets an underhook and turns Redfield into the cage.
Redfield will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning McLay up against the cage.
McLay can't get the takedown.

Redfield decides to pull guard.
Redfield wants to stand up but McLay is controlling him.
McLay throws a big right hand that misses.
McLay won't allow Redfield to get back to his feet.
McLay has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
McLay trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
McLay working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Redfield has McLay pulled in close to control his posture.

McLay postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Redfield is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McLay, into his guard.
Redfield wants to stand but McLay is controlling his posture from full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Redfield must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McLay working for a triangle but Redfield defends it easily.

Redfield gets to his feet. McLay looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

McLay shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Redfield pinned against the cage. Redfield gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lewis McLay. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Redfield bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Redfield really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McLay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Redfield wants to stand but McLay has his arm trapped.
McLay is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
McLay can't do much from the bottom here.
McLay really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Redfield has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

McLay changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Redfield fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Chris Redfield seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Redfield moves into range and clinches up with McLay.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McLay throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Redfield works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Redfield feints a jab promting McLay to slip. Redfield then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. McLay slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Redfield has McLay up against the cage in a clinch.
Redfield prevents the takedown attempt.

Redfield jumps guard and drags McLay to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Redfield looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Redfield closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

McLay looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
McLay is looking for a sweep. Redfield is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
McLay trying to control from the bottom.
It looks like Redfield is going to stand back up.
McLay trying to get back to full guard but Redfield takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

McLay is trying to escape the mount.
Redfield tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Redfield stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

McLay is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Redfield is defending well.

Redfield ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Redfield no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Redfield holds on and takes a little breather.
Redfield not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
McLay throws a strike but Redfield rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Redfield tries to stand but McLay is controlling from the bottom.

Chris Redfield showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Redfield fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with McLay, pushing him back against the cage.
Redfield digs a right hand into McLay's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on McLay's gas tank.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for McLay.
Redfield is looking to control McLay's arms but McLay gets an underhook and turns him. Now Redfield has his back to the cage.
Redfield lands an uppercut.
The referee calls for Redfield to work.
McLay with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Redfield is pressed up against the cage. McLay has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Redfield down to the mat. Redfield avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Redfield throws a shot to the body.

Redfield rushes McLay and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Redfield lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of McLay backwards.
Redfield lands a nice shot to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Redfield is looking to control McLay's arms but McLay gets an underhook and turns him. Now Redfield has his back to the cage.

Redfield turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Redfield manages to end up in side control.

Redfield has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Redfield gets a takedown into half guard.
Redfield tries to stand but his hand is stuck under McLay.

McLay looking for submissions off his back.

Redfield stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Lewis McLay has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Redfield closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McLay takes a knee right on the jaw!

McLay isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Redfield stacks McLay on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Redfield!
McLay is looking for a sweep.

Redfield stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Redfield rushes McLay and presses him up against the cage.

McLay is fighting off a takedown attempt but Redfield is just too persistent for him and manages to trip McLay to the mat. McLay regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Redfield stands up and waves to McLay to follow him.
Redfield has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Redfield manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Redfield is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McLay postures up in Redfield's guard and throws a big left but Redfield blocks it.

Chris Redfield is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Chris Redfield.

Redfield closes the distance and pushes McLay back into the cage.
Redfield lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Chris Redfield comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Redfield has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
