The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orkidea cracks the inside of Maritimus's front leg.
Orkidea throws a head kick but Maritimus moves out of range.

Orkidea scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Orkidea stuffs the takedown attempt from Maritimus. Maritimus gets slowly back to his feet.
Maritimus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Olof Orkidea seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Orkidea feints and then cracks Maritimus's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Maritimus down.

Maritimus fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Orkidea avoids it really well and circles away.

Orkidea fails with an attempt to clinch.
Orkidea tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Maritimus manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Orkidea scores with a head kick. Maritimus tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Orkidea tries to bum rush Maritimus with a series of wild strikes but Maritimus uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Orkidea wants to clinch but Maritimus slips to the side
letting Maritimus counter with a right hand.

It looks like Olof Orkidea has been cut.

Orkidea lands a head kick!

Orkidea gets a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Orkidea's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Orkidea escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Orkidea scoring well with a low kick there.
Maritimus takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Maritimus throws a right hand that misses
and Orkidea counters with a head kick.

Maritimus shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Orkidea napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Maritimus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Orkidea keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Orkidea pushes Maritimus away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Maritimus gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Orkidea is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Maritimus shoots for a double leg takedown but Orkidea sprawls well. He's pushed Maritimus's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Maritimus tries to keep at a distance but Orkidea has taken the fight into the clinch.
Maritimus misses with a punch on the inside.

Orkidea breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Olof Orkidea seems to be getting the better of the standup.
A head kick from Orkidea lands but Maritimus takes it in his stride.
Orkidea gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Maritimus counters with a stiff right hand.
Maritimus stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Orkidea displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Maritimus.
Maritimus takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Orkidea throws a lazy head kick
letting Maritimus counter with a right hand.
Orkidea with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Maritimus to score with a decent uppercut.

and Maritimus shoots in for a double leg counter - driving through into a slam and Orkidea is out! The slam has knocked him out cold! Devastating for Orkidea but Maritimus is celebrating as the crowd goes wild!
