PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Apollo Creed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glenn Schmitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Creed might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to James Brown - Living in America. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmitz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Creed paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Creed misses with a lunging right hand
and Schmitz counters with a nice low kick that buckles Creed's knee momentarily.
Donk. Creed catches Schmitz right on the button with a cross.
Creed swats away the attempt to clinch by Schmitz.
Creed throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Schmitz moves out of range of the strikes.
Schmitz throws a nice inside leg kick.
Creed displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Schmitz.
Creed looks to score with a jab to the body but Schmitz is just out of range.
Creed could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Schmitz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Creed is fending him off so far but Schmitz persists. Nope, Creed circles away and we're back to standing.

Creed misses with an uppercut.
Schmitz shoots in looking for a takedown. Creed tries to sprawl out of it but Schmitz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Creed manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Apollo Creed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Glenn Schmitz.
Creed misses with a hook
and Schmitz counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Schmitz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Creed's waist but Creed gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Schmitz off to one side.
Creed rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Schmitz counters by clinching up.
Schmitz wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Creed has him pressed against the cage.
Schmitz prevents a body shot from Creed.
Schmitz fails to pull guard.
A short uppercut from Creed.
Schmitz throws a punch but it's blocked by Creed.
Schmitz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Creed walks away with a smile on his face. Schmitz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Creed swings away with a body shot that misses
and Schmitz counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Creed is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Creed throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Nice sprawl there from Creed as Schmitz shoots in.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Creed scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Schmitz looks winded!
Schmitz closes the distance looking to clinch

and Creed counters with a crisp right hand that drops Schmitz! Creed lets Schmitz back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

It looks like Glenn Schmitz has been cut.
Creed thuds a left hand into Schmitz's body.
A swing and a miss from Creed.
Creed steps in with a hook that catches Schmitz right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Creed follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Schmitz looks absolutely devastated.
