2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeronimo Ferra De Almada! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The Grinn decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. The Grinn working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The Grinn sitting and controlling from the half guard. Ferra De Almada wants to get back to full guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Ferra De Almada manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The Grinn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The Grinn looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Ferra De Almada trying to control the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hammerfist, elbow! yells The Grinn's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
That's one minute gone in the round. Ferra De Almada pulls The Grinn in close to prevent any damage. The Grinn postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ferra De Almada misses with a takedown attempt and The Grinn counters with a nice double leg into guard. The Grinn showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The Grinn's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Ferra De Almada pulls The Grinn in close to prevent any damage. The Grinn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jimmy The Grinn. Ferra De Almada misses with a takedown and The Grinn counters with a single leg into guard. Ferra De Almada didn't expect that.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jeronimo Ferra De Almada wasn't active enough on the ground. Ferra De Almada tries for a takedown but The Grinn circles away easily and The Grinn counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ferra De Almada won't be happy with that. Jimmy The Grinn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeronimo Ferra De Almada. The Grinn content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ferra De Almada takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The Grinn has control of an arm but Ferra De Almada manages to advance to The Grinn's back! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The Grinn wants to escape the position.
Ferra De Almada has got one arm under The Grinn's chin. This could be trouble... The Grinn trying to control the other hand but Ferra De Almada gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, The Grinn has tapped out! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jeronimo Ferra De Almada! A pretty intense looking Jeronimo Ferra De Almada took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
