PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pat Killer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank Mir told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pat Killer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Killer looks to land a combination but Mir avoids it well.
Mir should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Killer gets caught napping as Mir dives in and scores a takedown. Killer manages to retain guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Mir trying to control the position from guard on top but Killer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Killer wants to sweep here but Mir controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Killer is adopting a defensive guard.
Killer wants to stand up but Mir is controlling him.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mir accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Killer keeping moving, preventing Mir from controlling successfully.
Killer manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Mir wants to control but Killer is having none of it.

Killer throwing strikes here but Mir is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Mir wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Killer.
Killer looking to control but Mir is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Killer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Killer throwing strikes but Mir bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.

Killer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mir doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mir manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Killer keeping moving, preventing Mir from controlling successfully.
Killer lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mir!
Mir tries to hold on but Killer pushes him away.

Mir is squirming around, avoiding Killer's attempts to control the action.

Killer cracks Mir with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Killer thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Mir holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Killer tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Killer trying to control but Mir is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Killer throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Killer sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pat Killer dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Killer throws a right hand that Mir ducks under and follows up with a left that Mir also avoids with ease.
Killer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Killer misses with a jab, cross combination.
Killer throws a right and a left that both miss.
Killer throws a series of punches but Mir moves out of range.
Mir tries to score a power double leg takedown but Killer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mir somewhat.
Pat Killer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Killer lands a jab-cross combination.
Killer misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Killer tries for a takedown but Mir sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Killer lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Mir takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Mir avoids a punch combination nicely.
Left hook, right uppercut from Killer.
Killer throws a nice looking combination but Mir bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Horrible takedown by Mir or perhaps it was just good defense by Killer which made him look bad.
Killer wants to land a leg kick but Mir is out of range.
Killer tries to bum rush Mir with a series of wild strikes but Mir uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Killer throws a right and a left that both miss.
Killer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mir.
Pat Killer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir.

Killer tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Mir counters with a nice double leg into side control. Killer won't be happy with that.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mir is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Killer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Mir is breathing heavily.
Killer manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Mir is looking to take a break and control but Killer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Killer is looking to improve his position.
Mir prevents Killer from standing back up.
Killer wants to control but Mir is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Killer makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Killer.
Mir passes Killer's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Mir looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Mir is working for a kimura but Killer is defending it quite comfortably.
Killer wants to improve his position but Mir is controlling well.
Mir is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Killer misses with some strikes from the bottom.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
