PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Flynn Inc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Marsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Flynn Inc!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Marsh!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marsh has a takedown stuffed.
Inc tries to clinch but Marsh moves away

and Marsh holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Marsh pulls guard successfully.
Inc not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Inc throws a strike but Marsh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Marsh postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Marsh trying to control the position from guard on top but Inc is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Marsh content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marsh working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Marsh wants to control from the top but Inc keeps moving.
Inc has control of Marsh's left arm, preventing Marsh from doing any damage.
Marsh trying to stand up but can't free himself from Inc's guard.
Inc has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Flynn Inc.
Inc tries to clinch but Marsh moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Marsh shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Inc defends it nicely.
Marsh tries to close the distance and clinch up but Inc swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Marsh misses with a takedown

and Inc counters with a crisp one two that drops Marsh! Inc thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Marsh to his feet! Marsh is in big trouble!
Flynn Inc has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray Marsh.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Inc throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Marsh avoids the head kick by Inc.
Inc throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Marsh counters with a body kick.
Marsh misses with a head kick.
Inc will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Marsh shoots in for a takedown but Inc shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Marsh shoots in for a double leg but Inc sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Inc fails with a takedown attempt.
Inc goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Inc wants to clinch but Marsh slips to the side
and Marsh counters with a nice low kick that buckles Inc's knee momentarily.
Marsh closes this distance looking for a takedown but Inc circles away.

Marsh uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Inc.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Inc is defended easily by Marsh.

Marsh gets caught napping as Inc dives in and scores a takedown. Marsh manages to retain guard.
Inc is breathing heavily.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Inc throws an elbow that misses. Marsh uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Inc's guard. Nice move by Marsh!

Marsh decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Inc, up you get!
Inc closes the distance but Marsh moves to the side
and Marsh counters with a head kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Inc will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Inc closes the distance and clinches up with Marsh, looking for a takedown. Inc pushes Marsh against the cage but Marsh circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Flynn Inc dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A thudding body kick lands there by Marsh!
Nice takedown defense from Inc. No joy for Marsh on that attempt.
Marsh shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Inc but Inc pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Marsh feints and as Inc raises his hands in defense, Marsh changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Inc scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Marsh shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Inc pinned against the cage. Inc gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Flynn Inc has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray Marsh.
Marsh wants to clinch up but Inc keeps it at a distance.

Inc misses with a takedown
and Marsh counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Marsh is trying hard to land a takedown here. Inc sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Marsh instigates a clinch.

Marsh escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Inc displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Marsh.
Marsh throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Inc's waist but Inc gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Marsh off to one side.

Inc throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Marsh was covering up waiting for the punch and Inc finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Marsh is looking to stand up but Inc isn't so interested in that idea.

Marsh keeping moving, preventing Inc from controlling successfully.
Inc prevents Marsh from getting back to his feet.
Inc slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Flynn Inc wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Inc fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Inc displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Marsh.
Inc lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Flynn Inc seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Inc shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Marsh pinned against the cage. Marsh gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Marsh shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Inc as he jumps to the side.

Marsh shoots in and gets a takedown into Inc's guard.
Inc has a closed guard, preventing Marsh from standing up.

Marsh decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Inc, up you get!
Inc shoots for a takedown but Marsh saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Sloppy strikes from Inc. Those never looked like landing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Marsh scores with a nice body kick.

Marsh drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Marsh makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Marsh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Marsh dives in and scores a takedown into Inc's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Inc wants to stand and escape but Marsh is having none of it.
Inc keeping moving, preventing Marsh from controlling successfully.
Inc has a closed guard, preventing Marsh from standing up.
Marsh trying to control the position from guard on top but Inc is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Inc tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Ray Marsh has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
No luck for Inc with that takedown attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Inc gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Marsh counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Marsh.

Marsh misses with a hook to the ribs.

Marsh jumps guard and drags Inc to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Marsh trying to keep a closed guard but Inc is proving a slippery customer.

Marsh is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Inc defends well.

Marsh has his foot on Inc's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Inc works his way back into a safe position though.
Marsh wants to get back to his feet but Inc is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Inc stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Marsh avoids a punch combination nicely.
Inc has his takedown stuffed

and Marsh counters with a nice double leg into side control. Inc won't be happy with that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Flynn Inc. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Inc misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Marsh tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Marsh looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Marsh decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Marsh changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Inc tries to avoid it but Marsh manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Inc to the ground. Inc escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Inc shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Flynn Inc is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Inc closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Inc lands in his opponent's guard.
Inc with a flurry of punches that miss.

Marsh is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A frustrated look appears on Inc's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Inc is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Marsh to keep the fight standing.
Inc is looking for a takedown.

Marsh gets control of Inc's arms and successfully pulls guard. Marsh will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Marsh is looking for a triangle but Inc pushes his legs off easily.

Marsh is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Inc stands and throws Marsh's legs to the side, diving into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ray Marsh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Marsh has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
