Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Derk Diggler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ted Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derk Diggler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ted Smith!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith stalks Diggler and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Diggler's face. Diggler staggers backwards, shaken.
Smith throws a series of punches but Diggler moves out of range.

Diggler shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diggler prevents Smith from standing back up.

Diggler is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Smith is just riding it out for now. Diggler eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are battling for position here. Smith manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Smith is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ted Smith was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Ted Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diggler walks forward, straight into a front kick from Smith.
Diggler avoids the head kick by Smith.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Smith!

Smith drives through and clinches with Diggler against the cage.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Diggler on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Smith throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith throws a series of punches but Diggler avoids them all with ease.

Diggler shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Diggler was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Smith is trying to control Diggler's posture but Diggler avoids it.
Diggler will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Diggler is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Smith knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Smith has his foot on Diggler's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Diggler works his way back into a safe position though.
Diggler wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ted Smith wasn't active enough on the ground.

Diggler is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Smith's half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Diggler is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Smith defends it well.

Diggler seems to be looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ted Smith dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Diggler throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Some wild striking there from Smith.
No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ted Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Diggler shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Smith napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Smith is trying to get back to half guard.
Smith wants to control but Diggler postures up.

Diggler wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smith, who protects the arm well.

Diggler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Smith is working away from the top position though.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smith connects with a nice short shot to Diggler's temple.
Smith is trying to control the action in half guard but Diggler is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Smith is pressing down on Diggler's thigh, looking to free his foot. Diggler is holding on for now.
Smith seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Diggler does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ted Smith hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Diggler shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Smith's guard.

Diggler drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Smith manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Diggler has Smith in his guard.

Smith is just content to waste time from the top position. Diggler takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Smith gets to his feet. Diggler looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ted Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Smith tries to bum rush Diggler with a series of wild strikes but Diggler uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Smith throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Diggler.

Diggler drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Smith manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Diggler has Smith in his guard.

Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
