Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Arjan Haze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chito Tamalito!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tamalito swings widly with a right hand
and Haze counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Tamalito preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Tamalito trying to control the position.
Haze wants to control from the top but Tamalito keeps moving.
Haze stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tamalito swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Haze drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Haze jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Haze throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tamalito works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Haze works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Haze takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Tamalito trying to hold on to Haze's head to control him but Haze postures up.

Tamalito wants to improve his position but Haze is controlling well.
Tamalito wants to get back to his feet.
Haze is working for a kimura but Tamalito is defending it quite comfortably.
Haze wants to take a breather but Tamalito is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tamalito slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Haze wants to control from the top but Tamalito keeps moving.
Haze is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Tamalito is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
We're going to have a standup here because Arjan Haze wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and Haze counters with a nice body shot.

and Haze counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Haze.
Haze decides to pull guard.
Tamalito trying to control the position from guard on top but Haze is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Haze has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Tamalito doesn't defend quickly enough and Haze has managed to lock this one up! Can Tamalito escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Haze on a fantastic submission victory.
