The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baruc clinches up against the cage.
Ongka blocks an elbow strike.
Ongka letting Baruc take a breather here.
Ongka with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Ongka escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Baruc tries for a takedown but Ongka circles away easily

and Ongka decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Baruc's guard.
Baruc might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Baruc looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ongka forces his way into half guard.
Ongka frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Ongka looking to secure an arm triangle but Baruc defends it well.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ongka is working for a guillotine from mount but Baruc frees his head quite easily.

Ongka wants to finish this one by submission but Baruc is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Ongka.

Baruc tries to reverse the position but Ongka maintains control.
Ongka wants to get back to his feet but Baruc is holding on tight.
Baruc is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Ongka working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Baruc turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Ongka off and cradles Baruc's limp body as Ongka celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Ongka Ongka!
Ongka Ongka was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
