Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cane Hanger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tug Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cane Hanger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tug Wood! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Wood, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wood fails with a takedown attempt. Wood gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Hanger tries to stand but Wood is controlling from the bottom. Hanger postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wood is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hanger, into his guard. Hanger is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Wood decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Horrible takedown by Wood or perhaps it was just good defense by Hanger which made him look bad.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wood throws a combination that misses and Hanger counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Wood slaps away a takedown attempt from Hanger, before circling back to the center of the mat. Wood is looking to clinch. Wood shoots in for a takedown but Hanger shows good takedown defense. Cane Hanger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tug Wood. Wood displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hanger. Wood throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hanger. Hanger gets tackled into the cage by Wood. Wood maintains the clinch. Wood is trying to pull guard but Hanger turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Wood lands a hook that snaps the head of Hanger backwards. Wood stalling in the clinch.
Hanger tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wood just stands there and leans against the cage. Wood tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hanger smiles and moves away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wood tries to clinch but Hanger moves out of range. Wood tries a head kick but it misses.
Wood's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Wood duly obliges. Wood looks winded! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hanger leaves Wood with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Hanger looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Wood! Hanger working the ground and pound but Wood is defending the strikes. Hanger in side control, just content to control the action for now. Wood is looking for a sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hanger controls the position from side control. Hanger tries to move into full mount but can't pass Wood's legs. Hanger advances nicely into full mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hanger tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Wood is trying desperately to improve position. Wood in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. The referee warns Wood that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hanger wants to control the pace but Wood is squirming around nicely. Wood is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cane Hanger dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Wood tries to bum rush Hanger with a series of wild strikes but Hanger uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Wood throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hanger. Hanger swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hanger will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Wood darts in and clinches Hanger up against the cage. Hanger is trying to pull guard but Wood turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Wood has eaten all the pies! Hanger tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Wood's elbow. A head punch blocked on the inside by Hanger. Come on Wood - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Wood is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Hanger looking to throw knees to the head but Wood is blocking nicely.
Hanger gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hanger seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hanger throwing shots but Wood is blocking nicely. Wood is controlling Hanger's position as best he can from this difficult position. Wood is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Wood pushes Hanger off and gets back to his feet. Hanger throws a head kick but Wood moves out of range.
Hanger fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cane Hanger. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wood shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hanger but Hanger pushes him off and we're back to square one. Wood changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hanger looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Hanger defending against the ground and pound. Wood decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hanger to his feet. Hanger fails with a takedown attempt. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wood looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hanger is fending him off so far but Wood persists. Nope, Hanger circles away and we're back to standing. Wood throws a right and a left that both miss. Wood defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hanger. Wood shoots in looking for a takedown. Hanger tries to sprawl out of it but Wood keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hanger manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hanger forces Wood back against the cage and clinches. Hanger manages to break the clinch.
Cane Hanger is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Wood throws a right and a left that Hanger avoids nicely. Horrible takedown by Wood or perhaps it was just good defense by Hanger which made him look bad. Hanger slips a straight right by Wood. Hanger shoots in and drives through. Wood sprawls well. Hanger needs to keep his hands up - Wood had a free shot at his head there. Wood shoots for a takedown but Hanger saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Tug Wood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A lazy left from Hanger finds it's target. Wood misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wood throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
so Hanger counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hanger is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Hanger trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hanger prevents Wood from getting back to his feet. Hanger wants to stand but Wood is controlling his posture from full guard. Hanger looking to pass the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Cane Hanger will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Wood fails with a takedown attempt. Tug Wood seems to be getting the better of the standup. Hanger wants to clinch. Wood misses with a double jab
and Hanger counters with a series of strikes. Wood will be more careful next time no doubt. Hanger lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wood circles away quickly and effectively. Hanger fails in his attempt to clinch. Wood wants to clinch up but Hanger keeps it at a distance. Wood fails with the takedown. Hanger darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Wood is trying to control but can't.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wood moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Hanger trying to control the position from guard on top but Wood is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hanger has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Hanger won't allow Wood to sweep him here. Wood keeping moving, preventing Hanger from controlling successfully. Wood looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hanger not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We're going to have a standup here because Cane Hanger wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Wood throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hanger counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Hanger lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hanger keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Wood is looking to escape. Hanger trying to control the action but Wood is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hanger slips a nice elbow through Wood's hands, connecting with Wood's forehead. Cane Hanger overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hanger is looking for a kimura but Wood is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hanger to get the leverage. Wood wants to get back to full guard but Hanger has mounted him! Wood is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Hanger fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Hanger lands a big elbow. Hanger breaks from Wood's wrist control and lands an elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hanger cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hanger looking to secure an arm triangle but Wood defends it well. Wood working to try and regain half guard.
Hanger with good strikes from the mount here! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wood is desperately trying to improve his position but Hanger has a good base and remains in mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Cane Hanger showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hanger, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
