Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Blake Axe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rhys Cao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Axe's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, For Whom the Bell Tolls. Rhys Cao has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Blake Axe's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Blake Axe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rhys Cao! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Axe tries to clinch there but Cao circles away.
Axe will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Blake Axe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cao lands with an overhand left. Cao leaves Axe with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Axe darts in trying to clinch enabling Cao to counter with a crisp jab. Cao keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Axe closes the distance and clinches up with Cao, looking for a takedown. Axe pushes Cao against the cage but Cao circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blake Axe. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cao throws a series of punches but Axe avoids them all with ease. Axe wants to clinch but Cao slips to the side and Cao counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Axe gets cracked there but stands up to it.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Axe walks into a left hand. Axe tries to close the distance and clinch but Cao swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cao lands a nice shot that snaps Axe's head back.
Cao slips under a jab from Axe. Cao stuffs the takedown. Axe closes the distance but Cao moves to the side and Cao counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Axe tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Axe tests Cao's chin there with a solid looking shot. Cao lands a nice shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cao. Axe does a little dance to reset his feet. Cao stuffs the takedown attempt from Axe. Axe gets slowly back to his feet. Axe takes a shot to the body in his stride.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Axe tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Cao holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Axe throws an elbow that misses.
Cao lands with a right to the head. Cao lands a shot to the body. Axe looking to slow down the pace here. A hook to the body from Cao.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cao lands a body punch. Axe is breathing heavily. A body shot lands from Cao.

Cao circles away from the clinch attempt and Cao counters with a lovely straight right hand! Axe throws out a leg kick but Cao moves out of range and Axe only half commits. Cao with a body punch. A glancing blow. Rhys Cao seems to be getting the better of the standup. The fight stays on the outside here - Axe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Axe misses with a hook. Cao throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Axe stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Axe tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Cao counters with a left to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Axe misses with a takedown and Cao counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Axe thinking. Axe fails in his attempt to clinch. Axe tries to clinch letting Cao counter with a right hand. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Axe takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Axe moves to clinch but Cao breaks away and Cao counters with a straight punch to the midsection. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rhys Cao showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Axe fails with the takedown. Cao defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Axe. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Cao scores with a jab.

and Cao counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Axe wants to clinch but Cao slips to the side and Cao counters by moving into the clinch. Cao is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Cao throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Cao lands an elbow inside that Axe shrugs off. Axe using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Cao has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Cao breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Axe tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cao swats him away and circles back towards the center. Cao misses with a wild body shot. Cao throws a right and a left that both miss. Axe takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Cao stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cao wants it to stay on the feet. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Axe. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! No joy there for Cao, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And that's the end of the fight! Rhys Cao comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Cao has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
