Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Connor comes to the cage accompanied by Ça vaut mieux que d'attraper la scarlatine by Ray Venture. Charles has chosen Don't Fake the Funk by Prince Charles as his entrance music. Henry Charles is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Connor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Henry Charles!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connor looks to land a left hand but Charles moved out of range nicely.
Connor with a lazy takedown attempt
and Charles counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A swing and a miss from Charles.
Charles lands a nice looking body shot.
Charles walks into a stiff left hand from Connor.
Charles walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Charles wants to clinch up but Connor keeps it at a distance.
Connor throws a right hand that misses
and Charles counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Charles moves forwards but Connor connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Connor stuns Charles with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Charles will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Connor loads up on a big right hand but Charles slips the punch.

Charles throws a series of punches but Connor moves out of range.

Charles lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Charles is defended easily by Connor.
Charles tries to clinch but Connor is having none of it.
Connor throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Charles.

Connor shoots in but Charles avoids the takedown attempt easily.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Charles moves into the clinch successfully.
Charles throws a punch but it's blocked by Connor.

Charles has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Connor uses from the top position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Charles stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Connor swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Charles got a little sloppy there for a moment and Connor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Charles has managed to get both his arms back between Connor's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Charles stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Connor swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Connor looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Charles postures up in Connor's guard and throws a big left but Connor blocks it.

Connor controls Charles momentarily but Charles frees himself.

Connor had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Charles defends it easily.
Charles wants to control from the top but Connor keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Connor is trying to keep Charles in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Connor will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Charles takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

John Connor is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Connor takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

and Charles makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Connor keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Charles lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Connor looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Charles is fending him off so far but Connor persists. Nope, Charles circles away and we're back to standing.
Connor jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Charles comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Connor throws a sloppy head kick and Charles moves out of range easily.

A looping hook to the body misses from Charles. Connor does a little dance to reset his feet.
Connor misses with a wild body shot.
Both fighters circling a little - Connor finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Connor lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Charles circles away quickly and effectively.
Connor slips a jab and a cross from Charles.
Charles looks to land a left hand but Connor moved out of range nicely.
Connor throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Charles tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Connor was well out of range. Poor timing from Charles.
Charles will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

He turns his back on Connor, trying to create some distance but Connor rushes him, striking wildly and Charles goes down! The referee tackles Connor into the cage to end the fight! Connor is one violent man!
