Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Handson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Popy Holmes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Handson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Popy Holmes! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Handson dodges the punch combination from Holmes.

Handson shoots in for a takedown but Holmes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Holmes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Handson throws a half hearted mid kick. Handson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Holmes swats him away and circles back towards the center. Holmes throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Holmes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Handson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Handson shoots for a takedown but Holmes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Holmes throws a series of punches but Handson moves out of range. Sloppy strikes from Holmes. Those never looked like landing. Holmes misses with a combination
and Handson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Holmes's guard now. Handson sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's one minute gone in the round. Handson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Handson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Handson with a nice head shot there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Handson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Holmes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Handson is controlling him. Handson controls from within his opponent's guard. Handson passes Holmes's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Handson content to control rather than advance.
We're going to have a standup here because Jake Handson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Handson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Handson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Holmes throws a combination that misses and Handson counters with a single leg into guard. Holmes didn't expect that. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Holmes is looking to stand back up but Handson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Holmes. Holmes is kicking away at Handson from the bottom - trying to push off and stand up. Handson grabs hold of a leg and drops back for a heel hook! The two fighters roll across the mat, with Holmes trying to push Handson off... Holmes taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.
