Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Douglas McDuff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Pato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alex Pato has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Douglas McDuff's chin.

The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pato feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Pato closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Pato is looking for a kimura but McDuff is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pato to get the leverage.

McDuff has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pato is working away from the top position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McDuff throws a body punch but Pato moves out of range.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pato is on top in guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McDuff throws a lazy right hand but Pato sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
McDuff stalks Pato and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Pato's face. Pato staggers backwards, shaken.
McDuff throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

McDuff wants to get back to striking at distance but Pato won't allow it.

Pato looking for submissions from the bottom but instead McDuff passes into half guard.
Pato is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McDuff's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McDuff's back!

Pato has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, McDuff has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
McDuff is covering up but some of the strikes from Pato are getting through and doing damage.

McDuff will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

McDuff tries to buck Pato off but Pato is having none of it.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Pato goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, McDuff has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pato but great work by McDuff.

I would just about give that final round to Alex Pato.
