Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between CJ Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodniel Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richards comes into the arena with Three Six Mafia - It's a fight blaring out of the sound system. Romero comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bob Marley - Could you be Loved kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! CJ Richards had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rodniel Romero! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Richards closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Romero's guard. Richards is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. CJ Richards wasn't doing enough on the ground. Richards dodges the punch combination from Romero.
Richards gets a double leg takedown into Romero's guard. Richards looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Romero is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Romero tries to sprawl but Richards drives through with a takedown into half guard. Romero is pressing down on Richards's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Richards postures up in Romero's guard and throws a big left but Romero blocks it. Richards slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. CJ Richards overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

That's better than Richards was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Romero trying to remain calm as Richards controls from the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Richards was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
