Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kanbei Shimada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Awa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Shimada might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Party and Bullshit. Kanbei Shimada had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Awa.

Shimada changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Awa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Awa tries to bench press Shimada off him but Shimada keeps the position.

Shimada tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Shimada tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shimada has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Awa is looking for a sweep.

Awa tries to buck Shimada off but Shimada is having none of it.

Shimada is trying to get an arm triangle but Awa is defending well.
Awa tries to bench press Shimada off him but Shimada keeps the position.
Awa is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
A lull in the action here.
Awa can't do much from the bottom here.
Shimada lands a nice forearm strike.

Shimada wants to control but Awa is keeping him busy.
Awa tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Shimada easily slips into full mount!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Awa tries to hold on but Shimada pushes him away.
Awa is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Awa is squirming around, avoiding Shimada's attempts to control the action.

Shimada is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Awa can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Awa tries to lock up and control but Shimada gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Shimada is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Awa to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Awa shrugs it off.

Shimada lands a big shot there that rocks Awa but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Awa is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Shimada working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Awa turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Shimada off and cradles Awa's limp body as Shimada celebrates with his corner.
