PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Bognar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson comes into the arena with Stephen Anderson blaring out of the sound system. Josh Bognar struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 187.7lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stephen Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Bognar!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bognar circles away from the clinch attempt
and Bognar connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Bognar darts in and clinches Anderson up against the cage.
Anderson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Bognar keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Anderson's efforts to push away.

Bognar pulls Anderson into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Anderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Bognar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bognar wants to stand and escape but Anderson is having none of it.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bognar holds on and takes a little breather.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bognar pulls Anderson in close to his closed guard and prevents Anderson from doing any damage or advancing position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Anderson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Bognar closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Anderson to the mat! Anderson manages to get full guard.

Bognar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Anderson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Anderson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bognar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Anderson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Anderson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bognar is looking to stand up but Anderson isn't so interested in that idea.

Anderson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Anderson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bognar's guard.

Anderson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Anderson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bognar with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Anderson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bognar's half guard.

Stephen Anderson very nearly forgot to thank KAISER amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
