Marcolini comes to the ring accompanied by Raffaella Carra - Rumore. Marco Marcolini could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Peyton Hillis's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marco Marcolini!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peyton Hillis!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hillis has taken the fight to the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Hillis's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hillis dodges an elbow strike from Marcolini.
Marcolini drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Marcolini wants to stall.
Hillis avoiding damage as Marcolini throws knees to the body.
Marcolini lands an elbow inside.


It looks like Peyton Hillis has been cut.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Marcolini takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Hillis prevents the takedown attempt.
Nice body punch from Hillis - that landed with a thud.

Hillis has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Marcolini clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Marcolini keeps the fight on the ground as Hillis tries to escape.

Despite having Marcolini's back, Hillis says stuff this ground business - let's go for a knockout! Marcolini seems baffled but is happy to be out of the difficult position!
Marcolini throws a nice looking combination but Hillis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Hillis throws out a leg kick but Marcolini moves out of range and Hillis only half commits.
Hillis tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Marco Marcolini seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Marcolini has taken the fight to the clinch.
Marcolini tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Marcolini throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Hillis blocks it with crossed arms.
Marcolini lands a knee to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Marcolini using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Hillis has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Hillis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hillis blocks a leg kick.
Marcolini misses with a looping right.
Marcolini tries to land a leg kick but Hillis saw it coming and moves away.
Marcolini misses with an uppercut. Hillis saw that one coming.

Marcolini feints and as Hillis raises his hands in defense, Marcolini changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Marcolini lands a couple of digs.
Marcolini trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Marcolini trying to control but Hillis is working from the bottom.
Marcolini looking to pass the guard.

Marcolini thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Marcolini has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Marcolini looking to sit in guard and control but Hillis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Marcolini has a closed guard, preventing Hillis from standing up.
Marcolini is pulling down on Hillis's head to control his posture.
Marcolini looking for a sweep. Not yet Marcolini, not yet.
Marcolini controls Hillis momentarily but Hillis frees himself.
Marcolini tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hillis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Marcolini tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Hillis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
No joy there for Hillis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Marcolini tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Hillis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Hillis counters with an inside leg kick.

Hillis has taken the fight to the clinch.
Marcolini throws an elbow that misses.
Hillis has had enough of the clinch but Marcolini keeps him there for the moment.
Hillis tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Marcolini tries to stall but Hillis uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Hillis is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Marcolini is defending well for now.
The referee is keeping an eye on Hillis - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Hillis obliges.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hillis tightens his grip and picks Marcolini up, before dumping him to the ground. Marcolini manages to land in guard.
Hillis wants to get up but he can't break Marcolini's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Marcolini wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Hillis is now in half guard.

Marcolini looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Marcolini not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Marco Marcolini wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A head kick from Hillis lands but Marcolini takes it in his stride.
Peyton Hillis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Marcolini swings for the body but Hillis moves out of range.
Marcolini misses with a double jab.
A combination from Hillis does no damage.
Marcolini pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Hillis looks to land a combination but Marcolini avoids it well.

Marcolini darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Marcolini throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Marcolini is working for a submission of some sort.
Hillis is looking to escape.

Marcolini thows a huge punch but Hillis dodges it nicely.
Marcolini is looking to stall here but Hillis recovers full guard.
Marcolini wants to control from the top but Hillis keeps moving.
Marcolini is really struggling to control Hillis but he's trying to hold on to the position.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Hillis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Marcolini is controlling him.

Marcolini drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Marcolini jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Marcolini stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hillis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Marcolini loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Marco Marcolini will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Peyton Hillis's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Marcolini tries to clinch but Hillis is having none of it.

Hillis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Marcolini, pushing him back against the ropes.
Hillis connects with a nasty looking knee right to Marcolini's face.
Marcolini tries to work over Hillis's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Hillis has Marcolini pressed up against the ropes. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hillis pulls back from the ropes and twists to the side, sending Marcolini tumbling to the mat - Hillis dives into Marcolini's guard.
Hillis tries to stand but Marcolini is controlling from the bottom.
Marcolini is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Marco Marcolini just wasn't active enough.
Marcolini lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hillis at a distance.
Hillis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hillis keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Marcolini fails with an attempt to clinch.
Marcolini throws a combination. Hillis tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Marcolini tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hillis swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hillis has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Marcolini.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hillis connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Hillis lands with a nice combination. Marcolini backs away looking to recover.

Marcolini thuds his right hand into Hillis's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Hillis takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Peyton Hillis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hillis throws a right hand that Marcolini ducks under and follows up with a left that Marcolini also avoids with ease.
Hillis is breathing heavily.
Hillis falls off balance throwing a combination
and Marcolini counters with a two punch combo.

and Marcolini scores with a counter punch that sends Hillis to the canvas! Marcolini smells blood - he's punishing Hillis with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Hillis has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marco Marcolini!
A very excited looking Marco Marcolini made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
