PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Erik Bryant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Erik Bryant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sean Stone!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bryant moves out of range of the body kick from Stone.
Stone dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bryant. That did some damage!
Nice uppercut lands for Stone. That snapped Bryant's head back.
Bryant goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Sean Stone has been cut.
Stone pushes Bryant away with a front kick.
Stone finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Stone cracks Bryant with a good jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Stone shoots in and gets a takedown into Bryant's guard.

Stone tests Bryant's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Bryant throws a series of punches but Stone avoids them all with ease.
Bryant's corner calls for a 1-2. Bryant obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Bryant fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Stone looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Bryant wants to clinch up but Stone keeps it at a distance.

Bryant tries to close the distance and clinch but Stone swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Stone is looking to chop away at Bryant's legs.
Stone scores with a jab. Bryant acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Bryant throws a leg kick but Stone sees it coming and moves out of range.
Stone thuds his shin into the meat of Bryant's side.
Bryant throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bryant blocks a head kick by Stone.
Sean Stone seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Bryant tries a head kick but it misses.
Stone rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bryant moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Stone feints and then cracks Bryant's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Bryant down.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Stone throws a head kick that half lands.
Bryant misses with a two punch combination.
Stone throws the kick towards the body but Bryant avoids it.
A jab lands there for Stone.
Bryant throws a series of punches but Stone moves out of range.
Stone tries to land a leg kick but Bryant saw it coming and moves away.
Bryant tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Stone counters with a left and a right that stings Bryant.

Bryant throws a nice head kick!
Bryant misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Stone.
Stone scores with a head kick.
Bryant throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Stone shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Nice strikes from Stone there.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stone is trying to control the action in half guard but Bryant is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Stone wants to free his trapped foot but Bryant is holding on for dear life with his legs.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stone throwing shots but Bryant is blocking nicely.

Sean Stone showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Stone fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bryant misses with a head kick.
Stone attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Stone rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bryant counters with an inside leg kick.

Stone jumps guard and drags Bryant to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Stone working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bryant doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bryant manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Stone thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sean Stone hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Stone slips a jab and a cross from Bryant.

Bryant moves into the clinch.
Bryant stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Bryant misses with a body punch.

Bryant is pushing Stone up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Stone prevents a body shot from Bryant.
Bryant taking a breather.
Bryant throws a punch but it's blocked by Stone.
Bryant is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Bryant swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Bryant pushes Stone back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Stone fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bryant tries to throw a body punch but Stone avoids it by throwing Bryant back against the cage.
Stone is trying to pull guard but Bryant turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Erik Bryant.
I think Stone has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
