Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Lamas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jose Aldo struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 148.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Jose Aldo looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricardo Lamas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Aldo! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lamas drives through with a takedown into Aldo's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Aldo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Aldo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Lamas is stalling in the full guard. Lamas throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Lamas trying to control but Aldo is working from the bottom. Lamas postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Lamas tries to free his leg and advance position but Aldo is retaining full guard. Lamas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Lamas pushes down on Aldo's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aldo is not content to let Lamas control the position. Lamas is nestled in close to Aldo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Lamas working Aldo over with strikes. Nice strikes from Lamas there. Aldo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lamas pulls his head out easily. Lamas wants to work for an arm triangle but Aldo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Lamas is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lamas is trying to control the action in half guard but Aldo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Lamas is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Aldo has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Lamas is trying to work for a kimura but Aldo is defending well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lamas landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Lamas is working for a submission of some sort.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lamas seems to be looking for submissions.
Aldo is refusing to be controlled, as Lamas sits in half guard. Aldo actively working from the bottom here. Aldo actively working from the bottom here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lamas is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Aldo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lamas. Lamas passes the guard and advances to mount! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Aldo is desperately trying to improve his position but Lamas has a good base and remains in mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ricardo Lamas dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Lamas closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Aldo quickly recovers to half guard. Lamas is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lamas takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Lamas seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Lamas is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Aldo throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Aldo is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lamas is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Nice strikes from Lamas there. Lamas wants to free his trapped foot but Aldo is holding on for dear life with his legs. Lamas working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Lamas is looking for a kimura but Aldo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lamas to get the leverage. Lamas is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Lamas is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Aldo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lamas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lamas is looking to stall here but Aldo recovers full guard. Aldo throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Lamas escapes and throws Aldo's legs to the side, diving into side control! Lamas gets to mount! Aldo was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lamas lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Lamas trying to control but he's not successful this time. Aldo taking shots to the head. Lamas in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Lamas is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Aldo is in real trouble.
Lamas has the hooks in. Aldo is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lamas looking for the choke but no joy. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Aldo is trapped and Lamas is scoring with shots to the head and body. Aldo is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Lamas is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Aldo has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Lamas has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Aldo taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Lamas doesn't care though - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ricardo Lamas!
