Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between John Skjelbred (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Skjelbred comes to the cage accompanied by Bad To The Bone. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Skjelbred! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bryan Bishop! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Skjelbred misses with a wild body shot. Bishop throws a series of punches but Skjelbred moves out of range. Bishop feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Skjelbred keeping moving, preventing Bishop from controlling successfully. Skjelbred escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bishop gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Bishop got a little sloppy there for a moment and Skjelbred has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bishop has managed to get both his arms back between Skjelbred's legs - danger averted. Skjelbred has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bishop can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Bishop is stalling in the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Skjelbred working for a triangle but Bishop defends it easily.
Bishop got a little sloppy there for a moment and Skjelbred has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bishop has managed to get both his arms back between Skjelbred's legs - danger averted. Skjelbred has his foot on Bishop's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bishop works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bishop stands up over Skjelbred, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Bishop controlling from the top position. Skjelbred really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Bishop lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Bishop stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Skjelbred swivels though and keeps the full guard. Skjelbred wants to sweep here but Bishop controlling him for the moment. Bishop showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Skjelbred working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bishop doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bishop manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. This has been an exciting period of action! Skjelbred controls Bishop momentarily but Bishop frees himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Skjelbred is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bishop defends well. Skjelbred can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bishop controls the pace. Bishop trying to control but Skjelbred is working from the bottom. Bishop stays in close to Skjelbred's body and controls the position.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Bryan Bishop wasn't active enough on the ground. Bishop takes a swing at Skjelbred's ribcage but misses. Skjelbred slaps away a takedown attempt from Bishop, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. No luck for Skjelbred with that takedown attempt. Bishop uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Skjelbred. Bishop fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Skjelbred fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Bishop has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Skjelbred misses with a jab, cross combination.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bishop is defended easily by Skjelbred. John Skjelbred has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bryan Bishop. Skjelbred lands a body shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Skjelbred closes the distance and clinches. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Bishop being controlled against the cage. Skjelbred tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Skjelbred will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Bishop displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Skjelbred throws out the jab. Skjelbred slaps away a takedown attempt from Bishop, before circling back to the center of the mat. Bishop shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Skjelbred pinned against the cage. Skjelbred gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Skjelbred looks to score with a jab to the body but Bishop is just out of range. Skjelbred moves in looking to clinch but Bishop pushes him off. Bishop misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Skjelbred shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Bishop shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Skjelbred defends it nicely. Bryan Bishop seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sloppy strikes from Skjelbred. Those never looked like landing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bishop misses with a leg kick and Skjelbred counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Skjelbred misses with a jab, cross combination.
Skjelbred throws a wild body kick that Bishop sees coming a mile off. Bishop uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Skjelbred. Skjelbred stuffs the takedown. Bishop shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Skjelbred as he avoids it easily. Bishop tries for a takedown but Skjelbred sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Skjelbred doesn't manage to clinch there - Bishop circles away.
Skjelbred throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bishop. Skjelbred wants to clinch up but Bishop keeps it at a distance. Skjelbred has his takedown stuffed and Bishop counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Skjelbred makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Skjelbred. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Skjelbred working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bishop doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Bryan Bishop. Skjelbred closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bishop to the mat! Bishop manages to get full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Skjelbred tries to free his leg and advance position but Bishop is retaining full guard. Skjelbred drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bishop looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bishop looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bishop! Bishop controlling the position from side mount. Skjelbred dodges the ground and pound from Bishop. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that John Skjelbred will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Bishop shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Skjelbred's guard. Bishop is looking to work some ground and pound but Skjelbred has wrist control. Skjelbred can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bishop controls the pace. Bishop lands a couple of digs. Bryan Bishop has got the better of the ground game so far.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bishop controls the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bishop tries to advance to mount but Skjelbred denies him. Skjelbred tries to bench press Bishop off him but Bishop keeps the position.
