The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Godfrey keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hardy swats away the attempt to clinch by Godfrey.
Hardy throws an overhand right that lands on Godfrey's shoulder, as Godfrey tries to avoid the shot.
Hardy misses with an uppercut.
Hardy throws out a leg kick but Godfrey moves out of range and Hardy only half commits.
Godfrey takes a swing at Hardy's ribcage but misses.
Hardy swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Hardy shoots in for a takedown but Godfrey shows good takedown defense.

Godfrey is pressed up against the cage. Hardy has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Godfrey down to the mat. Godfrey avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hardy lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Godfrey has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Godfrey and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Ross Hardy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Godfrey moves into the clinch.

Godfrey pushes off an throws an elbow but Hardy leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Godfrey lands a good knee to the midsection. Hardy won't want to take too many of those.

Godfrey pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Godfrey takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Godfrey obliges.
Hardy wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Godfrey tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hardy avoids it.
Hardy on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Godfrey lands a damaging elbow.
Hardy takes a knee to the side of the body.
Godfrey with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hardy avoids the elbow strike from Godfrey, against the cage.
Godfrey is pushing Hardy up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Godfrey scores with a knee to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roger Godfrey dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Godfrey throws a wild body kick that Hardy sees coming a mile off.
Godfrey stuffs the takedown.
Godfrey ducks under a wild hook from Hardy.
Hardy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Godfrey's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hardy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hardy is pushing down on Godfrey's leg trying to pass to half guard. Godfrey is fighting to maintain full guard but Hardy has managed to sneak the leg through.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hardy in particular looking to stall.
Hardy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Godfrey on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Godfrey tries to get out of the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hardy is nestled in close to Godfrey, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Hardy passes the guard and advances to mount!
Hardy postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Godfrey looks a forlorn figure.

BOOM! Hardy connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Hardy is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Godfrey can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
