Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryu Kazi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Riku Kurikka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Riku Kurikka!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The crowd cheers as Kurikka lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kazi doesn't seem phased though.

Kurikka has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Kazi takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Kazi manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kurikka on his heels. He'll look to pass Kurikka's guard now, I'm sure.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kazi seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kurikka for as long as he can get away with.
Kurikka wants to sweep but no luck.
Kurikka pulls Kazi in close to prevent any damage.

Ryu Kazi has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kurikka, as that shot connected.
Kazi takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Kazi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kurikka's guard.

Kurikka wants to stand up but Kazi is controlling him.
Kazi is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Kazi won't allow Kurikka to sweep him here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kazi postures up in Kurikka's guard and throws a big left but Kurikka blocks it.
Kazi tries to free his leg and advance position but Kurikka is retaining full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ryu Kazi just wasn't active enough.

Kurikka slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Kurikka is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Kazi had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
