Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kawena Buendia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeff Jordan! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Buendia. No joy for Jordan on that attempt. Jordan moves into range and clinches up with Buendia. Jordan is trying to drag Buendia to the mat but Buendia just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Buendia pulls guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jordan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Jordan trying to control but Buendia is working from the bottom. Buendia looking to control.
Buendia is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jordan is aware though and is defending well. Jordan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jordan drops back looking for a leg! Buendia is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Buendia manages to kick Jordan off! Jordan jumps back into Buendia's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buendia is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Buendia wants to get back to his feet but Jordan is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Jordan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jordan lands a couple of elbows. Buendia is pulling down on Jordan's head. That's two minutes gone in the round. Jordan wants to control from the top but Buendia keeps moving. Buendia is trying to control the position but Jordan postures up. Buendia keeping moving, preventing Jordan from controlling successfully. Jordan won't allow Buendia to sweep him here. Buendia on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Buendia tries to get out of the position. Jordan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Jordan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jordan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Buendia tries to buck Jordan off but Jordan is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Buendia can't do much from the bottom here. Jordan passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Buendia! Jordan is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Buendia can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Buendia is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Jordan jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Buendia manages to avoid the submission attempt. Jordan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Buendia is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jordan has an Americana. Buendia didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Jordan is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Jordan hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jeff Jordan! Jeff Jordan very nearly forgot to thank Hellbent amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
