Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Donald Hughes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hammer Fist! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Hughes pushes down on Fist's leg and manages to get into half guard. Fist looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Hughes is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Fist has managed to free his arm - good work. Hughes stands up from half guard. Hughes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes looking to pass the guard. Fist can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hughes controls the pace. That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee asks Hughes politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hughes prefers to stall for the moment though. Hughes thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Hughes working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. This has been an exciting period of action! Hughes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fist keeps working. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Fist tries to buck Hughes off but Hughes is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hughes shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hughes was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Hughes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hughes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Hughes looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Hughes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Fist has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes wants to control but Fist is keeping him busy. Hughes stands up and beckons Fist to his feet. Hughes gets a takedown into half guard. Fist is not content to let Hughes control the position.

Hughes is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Fist is not content to let Hughes control the position. Hughes drops an elbow to the side of Fist's head. Hughes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fist can do to turn this around?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hughes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fist doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hughes. Hughes looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hughes missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hughes is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Fist defends it well. Hughes is looking for a kimura here.
