Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Warren Saddler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Parker! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Parker throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Saddler misses with a low kick as Parker jumps back. Parker misses with a head kick.
Parker throws a front kick aimed at Saddler's knee but Saddler avoids it well. Parker misses with a kick to the body and Saddler counters with a leg kick. Parker slips under a jab from Saddler. Sloppy strikes from Saddler. Those never looked like landing. Parker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Saddler's waist but Saddler gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Parker off to one side. Saddler ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Parker moves away. Parker misses with a low kick.
Saddler misses the jab. Parker throws a half hearted mid kick. Parker throws an overhand right that lands on Saddler's shoulder, as Saddler tries to avoid the shot. Sloppy strikes from Saddler. Those never looked like landing. Saddler throws the kick towards the body but Parker avoids it. Saddler misses with a wild body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Parker takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Saddler bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Parker's head. Saddler connects with a body shot that sends Parker's belly button to the back. Saddler defending well as Parker loads up on a big left hand. Saddler checks the leg kick nicely there.
Warren Saddler is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. An inside leg kick from Saddler misses. Parker misses with a low kick. Parker takes a shot right to the bread basket. Parker misses with a head kick.
Saddler tries to bum rush Parker with a series of wild strikes but Parker uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Parker throws a head kick that misses. Saddler throws a hook to the side of Parker's head but Parker sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Saddler misses with a body kick. Saddler lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Parker swings away with a leg kick that misses. Saddler throws a half hearted mid kick. Saddler lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Good exchange - Saddler coming out on top. Parker swings for the body but Saddler moves out of range.
Parker misses with a low kick. Parker misses with a head kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Saddler. Parker does a little dance to reset his feet. Parker throws a wild body kick that Saddler sees coming a mile off. Parker dodges the punch combination from Saddler.
Parker misses with a low kick.
Parker throws out a leg kick but Saddler moves out of range and Parker only half commits.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Saddler lands a high kick!
Parker is rocked! Saddler steps in with a hook that catches Parker right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Saddler follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Parker looks absolutely devastated.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Warren Saddler! After winning the bout, Warren Saddler thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
