Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Samot Onidlap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyson Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyson Griffin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Samot Onidlap!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tyson Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Griffin looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Onidlap!
Onidlap trying desperately to get to his feet.
Griffin unloads with some shots from mount but Onidlap bucks and avoids them well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Griffin wants to finish this one by submission but Onidlap is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Griffin.
Onidlap working to try and regain half guard.
Griffin misses with a head shot.
Griffin wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Griffin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Griffin has control of Onidlap's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Onidlap regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Griffin throws some wild stikes that Onidlap manages to avoid easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Onidlap is in all sorts of trouble here.

Griffin jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Onidlap is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Onidlap and Griffin has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Griffin tries to score with some ground and pound. Onidlap controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Griffin trying to control the action but Onidlap is working from the bottom.
Onidlap is trying to buck Griffin off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Onidlap is looking for a sweep.
Onidlap gets back to half guard.

Griffin is trying to work for a kimura but Onidlap is defending well.
Griffin looks gassed!
Griffin wants to free his trapped foot but Onidlap is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Griffin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Onidlap is defending against the submission attempts here by Griffin.
Griffin is looking to advance position but Onidlap won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Griffin is looking to take a break and control but Onidlap is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Onidlap is trying to maintain the position but Griffin is very close to passing his half guard.

Onidlap manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Onidlap moves into the clinch.
Onidlap wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Onidlap has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Griffin avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Onidlap jumps guard.
Griffin pushes down on Onidlap's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Griffin is working for a kimura but Onidlap is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Griffin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Onidlap's head.
Griffin throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Griffin throwing shots but Onidlap is blocking nicely.

Griffin in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Onidlap tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Griffin!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tyson Griffin!
