Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tim Lachance!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenta Kobashi!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Kobashi.

Kobashi misses with a two punch combination.
Lachance will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Lachance shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lachance showed some decent athleticism there.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Lachance uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kobashi.

Lachance will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lachance in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Lachance is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kobashi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Kobashi misses with a combination

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kobashi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lachance swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kobashi is now in Lachance's guard. A big mistake from Lachance there, giving up the dominant position!
Kobashi won't allow Lachance to sweep him here.
Kobashi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kobashi wants to get up but he can't break Lachance's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lachance is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kobashi on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Lachance content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Lachance stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Kobashi to get to his feet.
Lachance looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kobashi is fending him off so far but Lachance persists. Nope, Kobashi circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Lachance counters with a shoot takedown. Kobashi fights it but they end up in guard.

Kobashi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lachance gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tim Lachance showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lachance, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
