Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sveik Van Der Sveiks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Scruff McKinney!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McKinney throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Van Der Sveiks tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. McKinney is in Van Der Sveiks's guard.
McKinney would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

McKinney postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Van Der Sveiks is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McKinney, into his guard.
Van Der Sveiks trying to control but McKinney is working from the bottom.
Van Der Sveiks throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McKinney can do anything to dispel that myth.

Van Der Sveiks avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Van Der Sveiks trying to control but McKinney is working from the bottom.
Van Der Sveiks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

McKinney looking to hit a scissor sweep but Van Der Sveiks is one step ahead there.

McKinney throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Van Der Sveiks postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

McKinney seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

McKinney wants to stand and escape but Van Der Sveiks is having none of it.
McKinney preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

McKinney shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than McKinney was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Van Der Sveiks takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

McKinney tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McKinney has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Van Der Sveiks is looking to reverse the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

McKinney tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
McKinney tries to stand but Van Der Sveiks is controlling his head.
Van Der Sveiks is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
McKinney content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Van Der Sveiks won't allow McKinney to pass to mount.
Van Der Sveiks is trying to stand.
Van Der Sveiks keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Van Der Sveiks wants to control but McKinney is keeping busy and won't allow it.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Van Der Sveiks looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McKinney is taking a breather. Van Der Sveiks says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scruff McKinney dominated that round.
That's time! Van Der Sveiks's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

McKinney shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than McKinney was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

McKinney trying to control the position but Van Der Sveiks is working away.
McKinney is staying tight to Van Der Sveiks's torso, preventing him from escaping.
McKinney tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

McKinney wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Van Der Sveiks, who protects the arm well.

McKinney is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Van Der Sveiks knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Van Der Sveiks tries to buck McKinney off but McKinney is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Van Der Sveiks wants to control but McKinney postures up.
Van Der Sveiks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McKinney wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
McKinney really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Van Der Sveiks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McKinney stands up.

McKinney feints and as Van Der Sveiks raises his hands in defense, McKinney changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Van Der Sveiks looking to hit a scissor sweep but McKinney is one step ahead there.
Van Der Sveiks is trying to keep McKinney in close.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McKinney trying to control the position from guard on top but Van Der Sveiks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

McKinney stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Van Der Sveiks is trying to escape the position but McKinney is controlling the position.

Scruff McKinney has got the better of the ground game so far.
McKinney scoring with punches and elbows.

McKinney is chipping away with strikes.

McKinney decides to take the fight back to the feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Van Der Sveiks gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and McKinney counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Van Der Sveiks tries to get to full guard but McKinney has control of the leg.

McKinney stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Van Der Sveiks to get to his feet.

McKinney drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

McKinney has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scruff McKinney showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Van Der Sveiks blocks a head kick by McKinney.
McKinney throws a body kick that misses.
McKinney misses with a head kick.

McKinney throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Van Der Sveiks was covering up waiting for the punch and McKinney finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Van Der Sveiks has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. McKinney doesn't defend quickly enough and Van Der Sveiks has managed to lock this one up! Can McKinney escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Van Der Sveiks on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Sveik Van Der Sveiks!
