Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shawn King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shawn King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fred Mason!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King throws a good cross that connects.
King misses with a leg kick
and Mason counters with a leg kick.
King throws a right and a left that Mason avoids nicely.
Nice takedown defense from King. No joy for Mason on that attempt.
King misses with a two punch combination.
Sloppy strikes from King. Those never looked like landing.
King lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mason backs up against the cage.

Mason shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

King pushes Mason off and gets back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!

King tries to sprawl but Mason drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Mason is taking a breather. King says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mason throwing shots but King is blocking nicely.

Mason is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so King is just riding it out for now. Mason eventually gives up the hold.
Mason stops King from getting back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mason thows a huge punch but King dodges it nicely.
Mason is looking to stall here but King recovers full guard.

Mason is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Mason is looking to pass into half guard but King pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now King is in guard.
King will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
King got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mason has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, King has managed to get both his arms back between Mason's legs - danger averted.

Mason wants to sweep but no luck.
Mason lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.

King avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Mason looks winded!

King decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mason, up you get!
King rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mason moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
King looking to land some kicks to the body here.
King lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mason circles away quickly and effectively.
King throws a left and a right that both miss
and Mason counters with a nice body kick.
Sloppy strikes from King. Those never looked like landing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A head kick by King misses

and Mason counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mason.

Mason turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mason wants to lay and pray for a moment but King keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fred Mason dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Mason throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
King gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Mason changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. King tries to avoid it but Mason manages to keep hold of a leg and drag King to the ground. King escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shawn King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mason misses with a takedown attempt - King sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
King looks to land a combination but Mason avoids it well.
King wants to land a leg kick but Mason is out of range.
King misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
King throws a right hand that Mason ducks under and follows up with a left that Mason also avoids with ease.
Mason lands a head kick!
King throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

King displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mason.
Shawn King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fred Mason.
Mason scores with a push kick.
King throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mason shoots for a takedown but King saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
King misses with a low kick as Mason jumps back.
King lunges at Mason with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Mason's hand.
King throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

King gets caught flat footed, as Mason shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mason trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

King wants to get back to his feet but Mason is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
King keeping moving, preventing Mason from controlling successfully.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Fred Mason wasn't active enough on the ground.
King pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Horrible takedown by Mason or perhaps it was just good defense by King which made him look bad.

Mason throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. King tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mason is in King's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mason would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
King is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
No joy there for Mason, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
King throws a sloppy head kick and Mason moves out of range easily.

Mason feints and as King raises his hands in defense, Mason changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mason must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
King wants to get back to his feet but Mason is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Mason keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of King's head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
King is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fred Mason showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! King's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Mason shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in King's guard.
Mason trying to control but King is working from the bottom.
Mason stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. King swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
King keeping moving, preventing Mason from controlling successfully.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Fred Mason wasn't active enough on the ground.
Mason gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Mason checks a low kick from King.
King jabs at Mason's body.
Shawn King is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
King does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Mason rushes King and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Mason is trying to drag King to the mat but King just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Mason creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Shawn King has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Mason keeps control of King as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
King wants to break free but Mason has control.
Mason jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as King walks away with a smile on his face. Mason gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Shawn King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fred Mason.
Mason avoids a punch combination nicely.
Shawn King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mason is looking to clinch but King is avoiding it.
King tries a head kick but it misses.
King throws a head kick but Mason moves out of range.
Mason slips a jab from King.
King stuffs the takedown attempt from Mason. Mason gets slowly back to his feet.
King tries a head kick but it misses.

King connects with the punch.

King tries to keep at a distance but Mason has taken the fight into the clinch.

Mason has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed King clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
King has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Mason.
Mason lands shots from the back.
Mason connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for King to escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

King defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Mason's arms.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
King is keeping busy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fred Mason comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Mason winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
