0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Raoul Ramirez! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Handson has closed the distance and engaged Ramirez in a clinch.
Handson pulls guard successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Handson pushes Ramirez off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Handson gets the takedown into side control. Handson tries to move into full mount but can't pass Ramirez's legs. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ramirez can do anything to dispel that myth. Handson is looking to take a break and control but Ramirez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Handson working the ground and pound.

Handson wants to take a breather but Ramirez is having none of it. Handson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Handson wants to work for an arm triangle but Ramirez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Handson wants to free his trapped foot but Ramirez is holding on for dear life with his legs. Handson tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Handson prevents Ramirez from improving his position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Handson wants to pass to mount but Ramirez is defending the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Handson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Handson showed some decent athleticism there. Ramirez blocking the ground and pound attempt from Handson. Handson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Ramirez is in a horrible position here. Handson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee asks Handson politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Handson prefers to stall for the moment though. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Handson wants to stand but Ramirez has his arm trapped.

Handson shoots in looking for a takedown but Ramirez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Handson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Handson lands a slapping body shot.
Ramirez swings for the body but Handson moves out of range.
Handson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ramirez's half guard. It looks like Handson is going to stand back up.

Ramirez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Handson wants to stand and escape but instead Ramirez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Ramirez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Handson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ramirez! Handson working for a guillotine from mount but Ramirez is in no mood to give up.
