Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johnny Sanders! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bobby Bishop! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bishop takes a swing at Sanders's ribcage but misses. Bishop tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Bishop lands a lovely overhand right. Bishop cracks Sanders with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Sanders fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bishop sprawls well initially but Sanders persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Sanders wants to advance to full mount but Bishop doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Sanders is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Bishop is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Bishop is trying to control the position but Sanders postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanders trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Bishop is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sanders is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanders trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Sanders passes Bishop's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Bishop gets full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanders loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Sanders wants to pass the guard but Bishop is keeping the position. Bishop keeping moving, preventing Sanders from controlling successfully. Bishop looking for a sweep. Not yet Bishop, not yet. Sanders drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bishop looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bishop looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bishop!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bishop tries to stand but Sanders is controlling his head. Bishop taking a breather here. Sanders is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Bishop off and has taken his back! Sanders is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Bishop knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Bishop for a finish. Bishop manages to reverse the position and now he's in Sanders's guard. Nice work there by Bishop.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sanders looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bishop sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sanders's guard. Bishop stalling. Sanders looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Bishop trying to control from half guard but Sanders is working away. Bishop is figuring out what he wants to do next. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Bobby Bishop will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Bishop throws a good cross that connects.
Sanders slips a straight right by Bishop. Bishop throws an off balance right hand
and Sanders counters with a nice low kick that buckles Bishop's knee momentarily. Bishop ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Bobby Bishop seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bishop scores with a nice right hand.
Bishop slaps away a takedown attempt from Sanders, before circling back to the center of the mat. Bishop throws a push kick but Sanders slaps the foot to one side. Sanders avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sloppy strikes from Bishop. Those never looked like landing. Bishop is looking to clinch but Sanders is avoiding it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanders takes a body punch but keeps moving. Sanders needs to keep his hands up - Bishop had a free shot at his head there. Bishop lands a nice shot that snaps Sanders's head back.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sanders. Bishop misses with a few strikes there.
Bishop lands a head shot. Sanders shoots in but Bishop avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Sanders. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sanders closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bishop circles away. Bishop will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sanders has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Bishop. Bishop lands a slapping body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bishop lands a nice hook to Sanders's body. Sanders takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sanders with a poor takedown and Bishop counters by moving into the clinch. Bishop missing with knees to the body.
Bishop lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. A right hand to the body from Bishop.
Bishop throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sanders takes a shot to the head. Bishop breaks from the clinch.
Bishop lands with a good body shot. Sanders drops his hands momentarily and Bishop takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Sanders is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bishop sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Sanders tries to move into range but Bishop moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Bishop throws a series of strikes that have Sanders backpedaling.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bishop lands a body shot.
Sanders walks into a jab. Bishop connects with a body shot. Bishop tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sanders paws at him with a jab and circles away. Bishop scores with a push kick. Bishop shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Sanders eats them both and turns towards Bishop to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. A slapping leg kick lands for Bishop.
Bobby Bishop seems to be getting the better of the standup. A decent looking cross lands there for Bishop. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sanders on the wrong end of a nice jab. Bishop throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Bishop misses with a series of wild punches.
Sanders stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Bishop.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bishop dips to his left and cracks Sanders with an uppercut! Bishop connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Sanders crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Bishop - the referee stops the clock and Sanders gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Bishop. Sanders manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Nice straight punches there by Bishop. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Bishop. A shot to the liver by Bishop. Beautiful body shot. A jab from Bishop does it's job there. Bishop lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Sanders is rocked! A cross from Bishop lands. Oh Sanders is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Bishop has been the more effective fighter overall so far. A jab from Bishop finds it's way through Sanders's defenses. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Bishop drops Sanders with a naaaaasty hook - Sanders is in real trouble here! Bishop dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
