Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolai Lagutin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz comes to the cage accompanied by Fort Minor-Remember The Name. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nick Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nikolai Lagutin! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Lagutin. Lagutin falls off balance throwing a combination
and Diaz makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Diaz connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Lagutin momentarily.
It looks like Nikolai Lagutin has been cut. Lagutin tries a head kick but it misses.
Diaz forces Lagutin back against the cage and clinches. Diaz breaks the clinch.

Diaz tries to bum rush Lagutin with a series of wild strikes but Lagutin uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Diaz ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Lagutin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Diaz bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Lagutin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Diaz slips a jab and a cross from Lagutin.
Diaz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lagutin moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Diaz lands a two punch combo.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Lagutin is rocked! Diaz misses with the combination.
Diaz's corner calls for a 1-2. Diaz obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Lagutin is still on wobbly legs! Can Diaz finish him? Lagutin throws a head kick that misses. Lagutin seems to have recovered his senses. Lagutin dodges the punch combination from Diaz.

Good agility. This has been an exciting period of action! Diaz is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Diaz landing with the ground and pound. Diaz controlling from the top position. Diaz working some strikes from top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz passes Lagutin's left leg - he's now in half guard. Lagutin has hold of Diaz's hands but Diaz slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diaz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Diaz working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Diaz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lagutin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Diaz. Diaz content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lagutin looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Lagutin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Diaz prevents Lagutin from improving his position. Diaz controlling the action here. Diaz moves into full mount! Lagutin won't be happy about that!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz landing strikes from the mount. Lagutin really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Diaz has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Lagutin's face.
Diaz lands with some strikes. Diaz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Diaz is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Lagutin can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Diaz lands a big elbow. Lagutin is desperately trying to improve his position but Diaz has a good base and remains in mount. Lagutin takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Diaz's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nick Diaz! An out of breath Nick Diaz thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
